The healing power of lime

A lime is the smallest of the citrus fruits. It is a sour piece of fruit, but not as sour as a lemon. Limes form the basis for many drinks, the best known of which is bitter lemon. You can easily make your own bitter lemon by squeezing a lime or half a lime and then adding water. If you want to make it sweet, add sugar water. Honey is also an excellent sweetener. NB! Vitamin C in lime

A lime is a rich source of vitamins. 100 Grams of lime provides 88% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin C. This makes this citrus fruit healthier than grapefruit, pomelo or orange. Of course, it must be added that a lime is a lot smaller and hardly anyone suddenly eats two or three limes instead of a grapefruit. If you can get over the sour taste, you can basically eat a whole lime.

Vitamin C against rheumatism

Rheumatism is a painful joint disease that becomes more common as people get older. Scientific research has shown that people who do not yet have rheumatism by taking a lot of natural vitamin C are three times as likely not to develop rheumatism.

Limonin

It is not only vitamin C that helps against diseases and promotes health, limonin, a phytonutrient called limonin, in the lime also contributes significantly to this. Scientific research has shown that this strong phytosubstance can contribute to the fight against various types of cancer. Lung cancer, skin cancer, oral cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer and colon cancer could be combated by limonin. It has been shown that 24 hours after taking limonine, this substance is still in the blood. Limonin is found in every citrus fruit.

Lime nutritional value

There is also quite a lot of pyridoxine or vitamin B6 (%ADH) in the lime. It also contains pantothenic acid or vitamin B5 (5% RDA) in a reasonable amount. There are other vitamins in it, but these are all 3% of the RDI or below. Furthermore, the lime contains a considerable amount of iron (7.5%ADH) and copper (4%ADH). In addition, it contains quite a few carbohydrates and dietary fiber, of both of which the lime contains 7% of the RDI per 100 grams.

Lime water as medicine

Instead of eating a whole lime at once, you can spread the intake of this fruit over a day. Squeeze a lime and add a liter of water and possibly some honey. This is how you make your own cheap, ultimately healthy and refreshing summer drink. Lime water is a super healthy drink that helps with liver disease, rheumatism, sore throat. It strengthens the immune system. It is always better to drink flavored water instead of just water. For variety, you can occasionally use half a grapefruit, orange, lemon or mandarin to make your citrus water. If you want to use it medicinally to gain strength, it is best to use it before every meal, especially in the morning before the fruit breakfast, an hour before lunch and an hour before dinner.Limes contain many antioxidants. These prevent, among other things, cholesterol from oxidizing on the walls of the blood vessels, causing plaque to form. Eating lemons and other citrus fruits prevents arteriosclerosis and a range of cardiovascular problems.

Flu and lime

If you eat a lime every day, you actually can’t get the flu. Sometimes it is impossible to meet this requirement due to our busy lives because we eat out too often in restaurants that use all kinds of substances that do not promote health, such as too much sugar, microwave use and too much fried food. Together with stress, this can lead to susceptibility to flu. Once you have the flu, it certainly helps to get through the disease process faster by eating lots of citrus fruits. Then drinking warm lime water with honey is recommended. Make it nice and strong because you won’t taste the sour taste very well because of the flu. Drink at least 3 lemons or limes a day and supplement with freshly squeezed orange if necessary. Vitamin C pills are of no use because they are based on an artificial vitamin C-like substance and do not contain limonin.
