A good stress-free holiday recharges your battery

A good holiday gives new energy. Many Dutch people use their vacation days to go out. Those who have enough money and feel like it go abroad, but there are also plenty of people who holiday in their own country or simply at home. Whichever of these three options you choose, it is important to get the maximum benefit out of those vacation days, so that you can enjoy them again for a while. It is actually not wise to use the holiday for extra jobs at home, because you will be even more tired after the holiday than before. It may of course happen that there is a job that cannot wait, but in fact vacation days are necessary for your own energy recovery.

The Netherlands is busy making money

Life in the Netherlands is simply not easy. It seems as if it is gaining momentum. Everything has to be faster, better and more energetic. Clients prefer to have the work completed yesterday and their patience seems to be decreasing by the month. In addition, many employees are expected to be reachable via their smartphone even in their spare time, after their working day, in case there are problems at the company.

Business problems are often passed on to employees

Sometimes employees have to shorten or postpone their vacation due to their employer’s planning. Emergencies in the workplace are resolved by simply calling up employees. If there are financial problems, the workforce is often reduced to reduce costs, but the remaining employees still have to do the same amount of work with fewer people. There are more examples to mention.

Building up stress damages your health

For those of us who work, this makes the working day a lot busier and people often build up more and more stress. If that stress is not reduced in time, people can suffer a burnout or even become quite ill. Stress reduces resistance, making it easier for viruses, bacteria and germs to attack health.

Vacation is necessary, but not everyone wants to spend a lot of money on it

Taking a holiday is therefore not a real luxury, but a real necessity in our busy society. That doesn’t mean you necessarily have to spend a lot of money on it. Many people prefer to stay at home during their holiday period and that is their right.

No money to go on holiday

After all, anyone who has a nice home and/or a beautiful garden, enjoys walking and cycling in the area, can relax without traveling. After all, traveling also requires the necessary preparations, which are often accompanied by a lot of hustle and bustle.

Travel wisely

However, anyone who has the money and would like to leave home for a few weeks should ensure that those weeks are really relaxing. That is quite difficult, because after the preparations and packing, the journey and arrival, you suddenly fall into a period where nothing is necessary anymore and everything seems to be allowed. That sudden change after the daily stress is a problem for many people. Their body and mind react in unusual ways to the changed daily schedule and the sudden rest.

Response to too much stress during the holidays

Anyone who suddenly gets some rest from a busy work situation without transition can sometimes suddenly not feel well at all, become nauseous, get a migraine or even become depressed. Many people don’t get much out of their first week of holiday. It gets better during the second week and only the third week is really fun and relaxing. Two weeks are therefore actually not enough to properly recover from the workload, but for many people that is simply not possible anymore. So try to make as much of that as possible.

Give yourself some rest during the holidays

If you are very tired, get more rest during the holiday. Take the time for a good night’s sleep. Do not swim vigorously, exercise or take very long walks. With these activities you target those parts of your body that are also targeted by strenuous work. So stress! While you should actually reduce it during your holiday. Do what you like, but avoid big efforts.

Watch out for relationship problems

During the first week of the holiday, you must therefore be careful for yourself and your partner. If you know that you have actually been far too busy with your work and that you have plenty going on at home, you would do well to take a rest during the first week and try not to overreact to minor things. The tendency may be there, but it does not do the relationship any good. What people are concerned about during the first week of the holiday, they would certainly not notice at all during the last week or would simply put it aside with a smile.

Use the holiday to completely recharge your battery

Take advantage of the holiday and make sure you return home as rested as possible. Whether you take a flying holiday, go by car or caravan or stay at home; it does not matter. Do what you love most and gain new energy from it so that you can get back to it.

View the state of affairs at home remotely

In addition, use the holiday to think carefully about the state of affairs. Sometimes it is good to take a look at your work and your life from a distance and thus put things in order. Sometimes a small change can make everyday life a lot more pleasant and enjoyable.

A stress -free holiday does not always have to cost a lot of money

Beware of the holiday trap. Anyone who takes out a loan to go on holiday is often stuck with it for a year or more afterwards. That can be extremely unpleasant and puts an extra burden on your monthly income. Only go on holiday if you have the money for it. Do not spend more on holiday than you have determined in advance. Statements such as that one should not look at money while on holiday invariably cause a hangover in the form of a very shrunken bank account.

Lying awake with worries

Anyone who goes on holiday and doesn’t actually have the money for it makes themselves unhappy. The bank account is not the only one to suffer. You will then suffer unpleasant after-effects. After all, it is not worth losing sleep for weeks, sometimes months after the holidays, wondering how to reduce expenses because too much money was spent for two weeks.

Holidays at home can also be good, especially if the weather plays along

If there is not enough money to go on holiday, use the holiday days to go cycling, walking, swimming, or have a nice picnic at home in the garden, alone, with your partner or with the family. It’s all possible for those who have a little imagination and don’t want to give up.

Children usually have no problem with it

Children often have no problem at all if they don’t go on holiday. They enjoy having both parents available and really enjoy doing fun things together as a family. That doesn’t always have to cost a lot of money.

Opportunities to be active and pleasant

Go cycling with them, have an ice cream together, have a dinner with things they like in the garden or outside on the balcony. Go to a canal or a marina and look at the boats together. walk through a forest and show them what animals are there. Collect nuts, pine cones, berries, blackberries, sticks and show them the mushrooms during the autumn holidays.

Enjoy the little things

A holiday at home can be a relief not only for the children, but also for yourself. After all, holiday happiness lies in the little things and usually not in the big money. A nice ice cream on a hot day, a glass of wine in the evening, a dip in the sea, a walk through a forest or a waving cornfield can provide a real feeling of happiness. Your body and mind will thank you for that.
