How do you get a nice tan? Tips for a beautiful skin color

When the first real rays of sunshine break through, the Netherlands quickly rushes to the beach for a nice tan. The beautiful color that people have in mind is a beautifully even brown color. In practice, it often results in burned skin with red spots. How do you avoid this disappointment and how do you get a beautiful brown skin color? Which food can you take to activate your pigment cells and how much anti-sunscreen should you apply? Tips for beautiful brown skin.

Why do you get a brown skin color?

First of all we look at the skin. The skin is the largest human organ. It protects us against all kinds of harmful substances that can be found in our environment. A harmful substance that is particularly bad for our body in large quantities comes from the sun. The harmful radiation causes cell destruction throughout our body if we did not get protection from the skin. However, the skin is also sensitive to the sun’s radiation and can turn red with too much exposure. When a moderate amount of radiation falls on the skin, certain pigment cells are activated and instructed to turn brown. The brown tint protects your skin better against radiation.

Not everyone gets tanned.

Not all people get a beautiful brown skin color. Some people always stay white. These people have an extremely white skin color. This is often accompanied by red or reddish hair and green or blue eyes. People with gray eyes also often have to be careful as this can also be a sign of few pigment cells. People with dark irises have better results when it comes to a beautiful brown skin color. These people have more pigment cells and can tan more easily.

Avoid the intense rays of the sun

It is repeated again and again every year: avoid sunbathing during the midday hours. Of course, it is not always easy to comply with this. You want to go to the beach or bake in the sun in the afternoon. People often have time to relax. However, it is not recommended to sunbathe during the afternoon hours. The sun is then closest to the earth, making the radiation extra strong. Don’t underestimate the strength of the sun. You can be burned after half an hour.

Nutrition and tanning

Nutrition and a tan skin color? That’s right. It matters quite a bit what you eat. If you burn easily, you can take certain nutrients for natural protection. Consider tomatoes, for example. Tomatoes contain a substance called carotene . The substance can also be found in carrots. With a large amount of this substance you can build up a natural anti-sunburn in your skin. It is also important to think about antioxidants. Antioxidants ensure that the cells cannot be destroyed. They prevent oxidation of the cell. Substances that contain extremely high levels of antioxidants are astaxanthin , curcumin , ubiquinol and alpha-lipoic acid . Astaxanthin in particular is extremely suitable for the summer. The substance also ensures that you build up a natural sun factor in your skin. The substance is called the king of the carotenes. Astaxanthin is found in salmon, lobster and crab. You can also take the substance as a dietary supplement.

Sunburn and still get a tan

When you go sunbathing, you naturally want to get a tan, but not burn. How should you solve that? You want to protect your skin well because you want to avoid old, wrinkled skin . Yet you also want to come home with beautiful and evenly tanned skin. The solution is a not too high anti-sunburn factor. With a so-called sunblock, everything is stopped. Your pigment cells (and all other cells) are maximally protected. You would think very safe, but you don’t build anything. If you forget to apply sunscreen, you will immediately get sunburned and that is extremely harmful to your body. If you burn extremely quickly, never get a tan and have a very light skin color, use a sunblock. There are anti-sunscreen creams on the market that protect your skin against UV radiation but still allow some of it to pass through. This way you get a tan but still have protection.
