Extra exercise on holiday

Many people gain a few pounds on holiday. Lazing around and eating a lot are two causes of this. To prevent yourself from gaining weight, you can of course pay attention to what you eat, but you can also exercise more. And you really don’t have to go to the gym for that extra exercise, because you can also achieve it with smaller things!

Swimming

Is there a swimming pool or sea nearby at your holiday destination? Go swimming laps at a quiet time (for example, early in the morning). With fifteen minutes of swimming laps, you have already burned about 115 calories. You also train your leg muscles!

Walk

Take a walk early in the morning or late at night. At these times it is often not that warm and there are not that many people outside. Would you like to train your muscles a little more? Then walk a route with stairs or hills or go hiking in the mountains! Walking on the beach also burns more calories than just walking on the road. This is because the sand is a bit heavier and you therefore have to lift your legs a little more.

Extra exercise on the beach

It’s wonderful to spend a whole afternoon basking in the sun on the beach, but the beach is also the ideal place for fun activities. Bring a beach set to play tennis or go snorkeling in the sea.

Take the stairs!

Taking the stairs is a small effort but still has an effect. Most people take the elevator in their hotel or apartment complex, while the stairs are often just as fast.

Participate in activities

Most hotels and campsites organize fun (and sporting) activities. Activities are often announced at reception or you will receive a brochure upon arrival. So take part in that one beach volleyball tournament or take an aqua aerobics lesson. Besides the fact that it is a lot of fun and you get extra exercise, you also get to know new people this way.

Dancing

Is a fun music evening being organized at your holiday spot? Loosen those hips and dance along instead of just watching! Many holiday destinations have entertainment teams who often also organize dance lessons.

Small exercises

Take a few minutes in your (hotel) room or in your tent to do some abdominal and leg muscle exercises. You don’t need any other equipment to do them, so you can still stay in shape while on holiday.

Walk instead of by car or bus

Is the city or supermarket close to your holiday spot? Then go shopping or grocery shopping on foot. When the weather is nice, a walk is always nice and you can also get some extra exercise.Make sure you continue to drink enough water and that you apply sunscreen if you exercise in the sun. You also burn easily in and on the water, so don’t forget to apply sunscreen.
