The healing power of Dutch cheese

Cheese is a dairy product with healing powers! You may never have noticed that the delicious slice of cheese on bread has healing properties. Is cheese healthy?

Cheese generally contains quite a lot of fat, but also many other nutrients. For example, cheese contains a lot of calcium, vitamin B12 and vitamin D, all important nutrients. The phytonutrient content varies per type of cheese. In general, 30 grams of cheese contains enough calcium for 25% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). Calcium from dairy and vegetables is more effective than calcium tablets.

Many amino acids in cheese

Cheese is especially an important source of amino acids. Histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine and valine are amino acids whose RDA value for 50 grams of cheese is between 17% and 37%. These amino acids are responsible for many body processes. The nervous system and brain functions in particular benefit from the amino acids in cheese.

Fewer holes

Caries can be prevented by eating cheese after dinner. This has been scientifically researched. Cheese does not contain much lactose. The older the cheese, the less lactose it contains. Lactose is milk sugar and is found in milk. It causes cavities. Cheese is better for your teeth than milk, although both contain calcium, which is good for your bones and teeth. Cheese also contains phosphorus, which also helps for healthy teeth.

Sphingolipids

Cheese contains sphingolipids that are necessary for the construction of cell membranes. Little is known about this substance, but it is known that it plays a role in diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes and various types of cancer. Eating cheese containing sphingolipids could provide better defense against these diseases. Research has been done and the first insights point to an anti-cancer effect of cheese, but more research needs to be done.

Cheese is good for bones

Just as cheese is good for the teeth, it is also good for the bones. This is due to the high calcium content. The body needs this substance in all kinds of places. When the body detects a calcium deficiency, the parathyroid gland is put to work to release the parathyroid hormone into the bloodstream. This triggers the bones to release calcium into the blood. This is an undesirable situation as it can lead to osteoporosis or brittle bones.

Cheese is good during pregnancy

Because cheese contains a lot of folic acid (B11), calcium, iodine and iron, cheese is good for pregnant women. Especially during the last three months of pregnancy, the immature fetus has a great interest in a healthy intake of these minerals and vitamin B11. Of course, all nutrients are desirable. Low fat cheese (20+ cheese)

It is true that cheese can be fatty, but there is also cheese with a low fat content. In addition, cheese contains many healthy omega-3 fatty acids. You find this less and less in other fats. For example, sunflower oil mainly contains omega6 fats, which are less healthy than omega3. Don’t forget that you just need fats for your body. Grated cheese

Grated cheese goes well with pasta dishes, but brown beans with grated cheese is also delicious.

Cheese eating tips

Cheese is great for frying in oil. The cheese will melt quickly. If you then add some flour to the pan, you will get a delicious cheese crust. This is a great sandwich filling. It will taste even better if you combine it with chopped onion, garlic and a little red pepper. Melted cheese with vegetables is an excellent sandwich filling.
