Which color suits me?

The clothing and make-up market is a business and a huge range of colors has developed over the years. There is also more and more for the hair, but that does not mean that the chosen color is always the right one. There are courses that can be taken to help you choose the right color, but with some specific guidance, many people can go a long way in the right direction.

Types and colors

Roughly speaking, there are four types when it comes to color and these are related to the seasons and the colors that belong to these seasons.

  • Autumn
  • Winter
  • Spring
  • Summer

Spring

This type usually has a light peachy skin and can go up to golden brown. The hair is often dark blonde or brown and if it has a glow, then often a warm shine. The colors that belong to the spring type are the warmer colors (with or without a gold sheen) with a bright undertone. Bright colors such as purple usually do not match the type.Colors that do suit are bright red with a yellow undertone, soft blue/turquoise colors and soft to warm pink tones.

Autumn

The autumn type has light skin to deep brown. The hair color is dark blonde or brown with a copper glow. The soft shades that contain a gold sheen work particularly well and brighten up the face.Colors that suit are warm orange, beige and brown tones, warm blue to navy blue, mustard colors and soft yellow tones.

Summer

The summer type is close to the cooler shades, with a soft subdued base (towards pastels). Colors that match the summer type are very soft pink going up to cyclamen. But also soft baby blue shades going up to deep gray. If you are looking for a shine in clothing or make-up, a silver shine can do something for you.

Winter

This type has a light pink to chocolate brown skin color. The hair can vary from ash blonde to dark blonde or even black. The winter type also has cool tones, but with a strong base. Hard red, hard pink, but also strong blue shades that speak, and a bright yellow color can be very beautiful for the winter type. A silver sheen can add that little something extra.

Assess which type

Assessing which type you are is actually the most difficult thing, because sometimes nature can deviate from the types. There are some things you can pay attention to to choose the right type and the corresponding colors:

  • By draping the colors around your head (with a large scarf, for example) you can see which color does something for you or not.
  • Make sure you don’t wear make-up, but make your choices with a natural face.
  • If you have tanned skin from the sun, look at the inside of your wrists. This is the purest color.
  • Always work in good daylight when determining the colors.

The result of the right colors should do the following for you:

  • The color of your face becomes brighter.
  • The color of your eyes is emphasized.
  • Your skin becomes more even in color (blemishes, bags under the eyes, etc.).

Finally

While one person finds it easy to find the right color, another will find it difficult. If desired, call someone who can independently determine your face based on the colors you drape around your neck.
