Prevent wrinkles by staying out of the sun

Frequent sun exposure is the number 1 cause of wrinkles. An excess of sun is disastrous for the skin and causes the skin to age faster. Years of sun exposure ultimately does the same thing to your skin as dried fruit: it shrivels.

Avoid the sunbed

For anyone who often uses a sunbed, the formation of wrinkles is inevitable. A tanning bed dries out your skin and it also affects the quality and quantity of elastin and collagen in your skin, making your skin leathery.

Use sunscreen

If you go out in the sun, it is wise to apply sunscreen to exposed areas. It protects you against skin cancer and at the same time helps prevent wrinkles.Wear a hat and sunglasses / Source: Istock.com/Remains

Do not walk bareheaded

You can grow wrinkles by frequently walking in the sun without sunglasses or headgear. Not only do you have to deal with the devastating effect of the sun’s rays, but you are also more likely to squint your eyes, which will eventually cause small wrinkles to appear around your eyes.

Prevent wrinkles by not smoking

Smoking causes bad skin. Smoking not only makes the skin gray, but wrinkles and folds are also more likely to form. In fact, a 40-year-old who smokes has the same number of wrinkles as a 60-year-old who doesn’t smoke. Smoking breaks down elastin and collagen, causing wrinkles to form more quickly. Sleep on your back

Be wary of sleep wrinkles, which are caused by pressing your face into the pillow at night. To reduce wrinkle formation, it is best to sleep on your back.

Prevent wrinkles by getting enough sleep

Sleep deprivation increases cortisol in the blood, which thwarts the action of skin-firming collagen. Get enough rest and you produce more HGH, a growth hormone that regulates the growth and development of your body. Among other things, it ensures firmer and more supple skin and therefore fewer wrinkles.

Exercise regularly

People who are in good shape generally have healthier and more elastic skin than those who are not. A Finnish study found that middle-aged athletes have firmer, thicker and stronger skin than a similar group of non-athletes. The elasticity of the skin also appeared to be better.

Not pulling mouth

Avoid yo-yo dieting behavior

If you gain a lot of weight, the skin stretches. If you lose weight – especially if you are older and have less elastic skin – this can lead to wrinkles. This is because the skin cannot completely shrink back to the old situation before the pounds arrived. Try to lose the excess weight before the age of 40 and maintain your weight. You can lose weight by eating healthy and exercising enough. Do not consume products with a lot of fat, sugar and alcohol too often. Also avoid refined products, such as white bread, white rice and white pasta.

Avoid sugar

Prevent wrinkles? Leave all confectionery and sugars alone. Sugary products such as candy, cookies and cake can accelerate the aging process of your skin. Eating too much sugar makes your skin more flabby and wrinkled. This is because sugar intake leads to glycation, a metabolic process that accelerates aging.

Eat more fish

Salmon in particular, but also other cold-water fish, are a rich source of proteins, one of the building blocks of beautiful skin. It is also a great source of an essential fatty acid known as omega-3. Essential fatty acids are a blessing for the skin.

Eat more soy

Soy regenerates the skin and slows down skin aging. Eating soy and soy products stimulates the skin’s collagen production. It ensures fewer wrinkles and firmer skin.

Eat more cocoa

In a study published in the Journal of Nutrition in 2006, researchers found that cocoa contained high levels of two flavanols (epicatchin and catechin), which are antioxidants found in cocoa beans. These protect the skin against sun damage and ensure better blood circulation to the skin cells, better hydration and make the skin feel smoother.Fresh fruit / Source: Istock.com/karelnoppe

Eat more fruits and vegetables

Fruit and vegetables contain antioxidants, such as vitamin C and vitamin A. These scavenge free radicals and thus indirectly prevent accelerated skin aging.

Use CBD oil

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of more than 60 active ingredients that belong to a class of molecules called phytocannabinoids in cannabis. A large part of the cannabis plant consists of CBD. CBD oil can be made from this, where the psychoactive THC content is kept below the legal standard. CBD oil can, among other things, have a positive effect on the skin. It can also be used externally. It has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on the skin. It is also known to combat wrinkles and signs of aging and protect against skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis.

Argan oil as an anti-wrinkle cream

Argan oil gives the skin a youthful glow and visibly reduces wrinkles. Argan oil has a high antioxidant content. Antioxidants are powerful chemicals that keep the skin young, fresh and healthy. This makes argan oil a suitable anti-aging product. It restores the resilience and elasticity of the skin and also makes the skin feel fuller and softer. The best way to apply argan oil is to massage a few drops into your face and neck before bed. It acts as a moisturizer and anti-wrinkle cream in one.

Preventing wrinkles: be sparing with soap

Washing with soap can lead to drying of the skin and temporary wrinkle formation. Rinse soap well, because a soap film left on the skin increases drying.Tretinoin cream (vitamin A acid) / Source: Martin Sulman

Vitamin A acid (tretinoin)

It has been found that vitamin A acid (tretinoin) works well if you want to correct fine wrinkles. Vitamin A acid rejuvenates the skin and is available in the form of creams and lotions. It stimulates healthy cell division and collagen and elastin production. You cannot buy it at a pharmacy or drugstore. It is only available with a doctor’s prescription. If you do not follow the instructions for use properly, you may experience significant discomfort from using this cream. It is and remains a medicine.
