Super healthy and easy snack

For an overview of all the healthy nutrients in tomatoes in general, I refer the reader to the article “The healing power of tomatoes”. It can be added that tomatoes are good for the heart. The phytonutrient that has heart-supporting properties is a glycoside and is called esculeoside A. The flavonoid chalconaringenin is also very healthy for the heart. Science continues to expand knowledge about phytonutrients and the tomato is therefore moving higher on the list of healthiest nutrients.Tomato flower / Source: André Karwath aka Aka, Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA-2.5)

Healing properties of cherry tomato

The tomato contains a lot of fiber. These promote digestion and therefore also prevent obesity. In addition, due to the presence of antioxidants, tomatoes prevent the arteries from becoming covered in plaque (arteriosclerosis). This prevents diseases such as high blood pressure and heart attacks.

Peeled cherry tomatoes

If you like to surprise guests, you can try peeling cherry tomatoes. You have to peel them just like you would all tomatoes, that is, by throwing them into boiling water for a very short time, say 30 seconds, and then remove their skin by gently pushing the skin off with your hand. Because they are less firm, you can place a piece of cheese, cucumber or celery under the peeled cherry tomato and then stick it on a cocktail stick, or give everyone their own snack fork.Tomato on the bush / Source: Jon Sullivan, Wikimedia Commons (Public domain)Cherry tomatoes are among the vegetables that you can grill, but you still have to be careful that they do not fall through the grill. To prevent this, skewer it and grill it briefly.
