Enjoying the “now”

We find it difficult to enjoy the moment, the “now”. This is inherent to the busy lives we think we have to participate in. We think so, but no one imposes it, so it’s a more voluntary choice to cut corners. On the other hand, you are more or less left out if you refuse to participate. They are the alternatives or even weirdos. The only question is how crazy are these people really?

The “flow” of life

Go with the flow is a slogan that is now used at all times, because we should no longer follow that rat race and should live our own lives. This is of course correct in principle, but saying it and, above all, radiating spirituality, does not mean that you are one. Spirituality is within you and if you want to take steps, it takes time. They also call it enlightened, but it doesn’t really matter which term you use.

The moment

You form a basis by regularly taking a moment for yourself and if that means cutting out of your busy agenda, then so be it. In addition, enjoying the moment is something we don’t do enough of. These are all basic principles that can help in the process of enlightenment, meditation is one of them.Enjoying the moment comes naturally to some people and not at all to others. That doesn’t mean that, with some effort, you can’t make something of it. You can learn it, but it is a matter of persevering and doing a lot.

Exercises to live more in the “now”.

It is the nature of modern people to work towards something, a career, a family, a fun social life and/or a combination of these. That’s what you plan for and that’s what you work towards. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, unless you are constantly thinking about the future and not enjoying the now. Learning to enjoy the moment is an art in itself, which not everyone can do. There are some exercises that, if done consistently, can help you in the process.

The hermit

People are naturally social beings and it is not the intention to be completely alone, but visualizing such a situation can help you in the process. Imagine living alone in a hut on the beach or in a mountain alcove. There is nothing or no one to worry about. No family or friends to worry about, no work to go to every day or make sure you have enough income to support your family and pay for your house. The only thing you have to make sure is that you have food, that you don’t freeze to death from the cold and that you can wash yourself. You can arrange this and you are quite content with the situation, you are now busy collecting food and branches to make a fire, etc.Such a situation immediately gives you room to think about things and one of them may be that the aspects in exists, which may also be applicable in the present. Which aspects do you experience as pleasant and can you place in the real now?

Acceptance of the “now”

Although it may sound strange, it is not, because if we look at our current existence we also have to conclude that we often resist the things that happen during the day. Prepare yourself to say yes to what you experience, hear, see and what your feelings are about this. By saying yes you accept the situation without wanting to change it immediately (which we normally want to do when an undesirable situation arises). In this way you ensure that you slowly come to yourself, your being, and are busy with the now.

Anchors

If you want to live more in the now, you have to worry less about the past and the future. You can achieve this partly by seeing the past and the future as ropes with heavy anchors. You want to be busy in the moment, but those heavy anchors to the left and right of you occasionally threaten to drag you down and it is very difficult to stay above.Visualize that you can lift the two heavy anchors and by pulling them you simply bring them up and they even float to the top. This suddenly makes it much easier for you to focus on the present and the heavy burden of the past or future is no longer there. The now suddenly feels much more pleasant.

Finally

Don’t assume that if you have no experience with meditation that you can accomplish anything with a single meditation. We probably want it that way, but that’s not how it works. Take the time and rest for it, repeat it regularly and make sure it sticks. You will notice that it will work slowly but surely.
