The eye pencil is one of those cosmetic items that rides on the wave of trends. The article is fashion and every eye has to believe it and it is “not done” to use the eye pencil. However, in addition to coloring the eye, an eye pencil can also provide that nuance that makes the eyes stand out even more.

Different pencils

To start with, there are various cosmetic pencils, pencils that are sometimes misused. Not always serious, but using too hard a pencil on the delicate skin of the eye can be bad for the skin.Strictly speaking, it is good to keep the eyebrow pencil and real eye pencil apart. The eyebrow pencil has a harder point to imitate the eyebrows with sharp lines on the skin. The eye pencil is slightly softer and, as is well known, usually has an arsenal of colors, while the eyebrow pencil is limited to the colors that the eyebrow can have.

Other purposes

The eye pencil is also used for the eyebrows, but is usually a little too soft to properly apply to the eyebrows. However, a well-sharpened eye pencil can serve as a lip border (to be colored later with lipstick). But lip contouring is also a trend (or not). Outlining the color of the lipstick is always possible, it only serves to prevent the lipstick from bleeding. A lip pencil is better, or to prevent lipstick from running, a sealer can also be applied over the lipstick. The chance that it will end is minimal.

Apply eye pencil

A line under the eye

Strange that the eye pencil has been around for a long time, but most people’s application does not go beyond a line of a certain color under the eye. A white pencil on the inner edge of the eye enlarges the eye and is usually only applied for that purpose and not as a decoration of the eye.

Eye shadow

But the eye pencil can also be applied as eye shadow on the eyelid or in combination with a powder eye shadow. The powder eye shadow can then be nicely covered over the eyelid and the eye pencil can usually be applied in a darker version in the corners as an accent or to lift the eye and give it the almond shape.

The looks

You can get a nice sultry look by applying the eye pencil under and on the lower eyelid and apply some shiny eye shadow on the upper eyelid. All in deeper color shades, for example blue or sea green. If you make the line on the inside of your lower eyelid black, you will slightly reduce the size of the eye. Blur the line under the eye a little to give it a blurry look.You emphasize the Asian look by giving your eyes that almond shape and letting the eye pencil run thinly towards the outside of the eye. If you start the line halfway through the upper eyelid, you can let it subtly run away to the outside (no more than a few minimeters upwards). If you want to make more of a statement, tighten the line.Make your eyes cheerful in summer by taking an eye pencil in the desired color with a subtle glitter and applying it to the upper and lower eyelid. In the dark evening hours it can look a bit strange, especially under the eye, so only apply it during the day (that’s what it is intended for).

Liquid eye pencil

It looks like the traditional eyeliner, but it is an intermediate form with the eye pencil. But one that is intense in color and can also be applied nicely (tighter than just the pencil). Relatively many women still find eyeliner difficult to apply and this intermediate form is useful. There are not many brands that sell this intermediate form.

The eye pencil is a handy tool to quickly give the eyes some more nuance or open up the look. Just be careful that the pencil does not get too warm in the summer, as the tip will be too soft to make up the eyes nicely.
