Simple rules for a healthy life

There are no guarantees in life, but a healthy life goes beyond exercising every now and then. You can exercise as much as you want, but if what goes into your body is not healthy, things will go wrong anyway. Healthy living is a complete picture and although we are increasingly realizing that dieting is of little use if the entire lifestyle is not examined, we still make it easy. Of course, there may be things that are not good, but this should be the exception and not the rule. Balance is important, but it starts with some relatively simple rules.

Self-discipline

Whatever you do, it depends on maintaining the pattern you have started (possibly with professional help). Not a diet, but a behavioral change that includes exercise and eating. In fact, self-discipline forms the basis and you can continue to build on that basis. The totality of life within the 24 hours of a day shapes who you are and how you feel. How do you learn self-discipline? That’s a difficult one, because some people have this naturally , but you can also give nature a helping hand by offering a reminder. A reminder is something you always carry with you. There are pins you can wear, often very decorative or a wristband that look very modern, but you can also come up with something yourself that represents self-discipline. You are then regularly reminded of it and you can make it a kind of second nature.

Simple tools

We can find some of the aids in and around the house or arrange them ourselves. Consider the following, among others:

  • Do not wear skirts or pants with elastic. If you gain weight, you will first notice this in the waistband of your pants or skirt. The elastic is very comfortable, but does not help you in the process that you may not have to eat something because of a tight band. If you could use a reminder, maybe a little late, but a signal.
  • Grab your child’s or neighbor’s skipping rope or purchase one yourself and jump for a few minutes every day. Jump briskly for 1 minute, rest for 30 seconds, then jump again for 1 minute and rest for 30 seconds. Start by repeating this pattern 10 times.
  • Eat coconut regularly. It is a source of magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Perfect minerals for restoring fluid balance and helping the muscles recover.
  • A well-known one, but one that is still regularly ignored, is the stairs. If you live in an apartment, take the stairs and take the stairs at work. Grab your bike or legs if you are going to do something that is acceptable to do with your bike or legs and leave the car or moped behind.
  • Be sophisticated with your shopping. Only buy what is healthy and if you do buy something less healthy, buy small packages. A small sin is no problem, but don’t let yourself be tempted to commit more. Finished = finished.
  • Turn your usual diet around and start with a hearty meal of eggs, a piece of salmon and spinach, for example. You feel full for a long time, the metabolism is high and the antioxidants of the vegetables are good for the body. Finally, the salmon supplies the well-known omega 3 fatty acids. A full meal, but a good basis for the day.
  • Pay attention to your body signals such as a sleeping foot, a heavy arm or a loss of concentration. Signals are given for a reason, so take action at that moment. Go for a walk, stick your nose outside the door or (if possible) get some fresh air for a few minutes. It’s not about the duration, but the variety in the pattern.
  • Preferably do not take light products. Light products may contain less fat, but the substances are absorbed by sugars and/or starch. This results in a rising blood sugar level.
  • Eat regularly and the basis is the well-known 3 meals. If the time between meals is too long, divide the food over 5 smaller meals or have a healthy snack. Some sherry tomatoes, a roll of chicken fillet around a pickle, boiled egg, etc.
  • Fortunately, we all enjoy sports more and more, but the rest afterwards is just as important. Let the body and mind relax. Moreover, the combustion continues for a while.

Dare to change!

We often all know it, but it all depends on having the courage (!) to change your lifestyle. No matter how individual we want to appear, people are in fact herd animals and it therefore takes a lot of courage to change your lifestyle. Do the things that make you happy, throw stress overboard and spend the 24 hours of the day in such a way that you can achieve a varied lifestyle. But with a dose of courage and self-discipline, it can absolutely be achieved.
