Electric coagulation and electric hair removal

What is electrical coagulation used for? Is the result permanent, or will the conditions return? You can read more about this and about electric hair removal in this article…

Electrical coagulation

Electrical coagulation is used to treat Couperosis, Telangiectasia, Spinnaevi and other small vascular abnormalities. The blood vessels are closed by means of a tiny needle and current. As a result, these are no longer visible. The result is permanent, but new visible vessels may arise during construction.

Couperose

Couperose is a mild form of Rosacea. This is a chronic skin condition of the face, where the bright red color on the cheeks and nose is particularly noticeable. In addition to redness, dilated blood vessels (Couperosis), pimples and bumps can also occur. The cause of this skin condition is not known. However, the use of alcohol and spicy food is not recommended, as this can temporarily worsen the dilation of the superficial capillaries. Excessive exposure to the sun is also not recommended.

Telangiectasias

These are small chronically dilated blood vessels that occur in the face. These vessels mainly occur on the cheeks, nose and chin. Because they do not disappear on their own and can be cosmetically disturbing, they are removed using electrical coagulation. Because the veins in the skin become weaker, they can dilate. It is also recommended not to consume alcohol or spicy food. Also beware of excessive sun exposure. Also avoid strong changes in temperature, such as the use of (too) hot or (too) cold water. Alternating baths, using the sauna and then rinsing with cold water, etc. is also not good for this ailment.

Spinnaevi

Spider naevi are dilated blood vessels in the shape of a spider. These consist of a red spot from which fine, radiating branches emerge (the legs of the spider). This condition can be congenital, but can also develop later, including due to damage. The use of alcohol or spicy food is also not recommended for this condition. These spiders can also be removed using electrical coagulation.

Fibroids

Fibroids are also called skin tags because of their shape. They are usually benign and made up of connective tissue. They can also be removed by means of electrical coagulation, where the stem is treated so that the wart will disappear.

Electric hair removal

Electric hair removal also uses a very fine needle and electricity. The needle is inserted into the hair follicle. Heat is added by means of a pulse of electricity, so that the hair is destroyed at its roots. The hairs loosen and can then be easily removed with tweezers. If this technique is used properly, the hairs will not return. A disadvantage is that this is a very time-consuming treatment because each hair is treated separately. This is a disadvantage, especially for large surfaces, and the long-term treatment also becomes quite expensive. This treatment is extremely suitable for, for example, the upper lip and the chin. The treatment must be carried out by a certified beautician (ANBOS/STIVAS) because small scars may occur if incorrectly applied. The hairs can also return if the hair root is not destroyed properly. This is general information that I learned during my beautician training.
