How creativity can help you further

Some people feel that they are absolutely not creative, but creativity is often and wrongly linked to the artist as we know/name him. The man or woman with the dancing brush in his hand, the musician who is a virtuoso on the piano or the poet who can lyrically connect words. But creativity goes much further than that and that means that many more people can use their creativity, however hidden, for their own development. Although people are increasingly looking at the quality of life and seeking balance, creativity is not something we take for granted. This also applies to many supporting agencies and whether this is finding balance with a relaxing sauna, the psychotherapist who guides you or you regularly go for walks in nature, creativity does not seem to fit naturally into the palette. If only because many people still think they don’t have this in them. But practice shows otherwise, you just have to dare to do it.

Find the creativity within yourself

Meditate

Perhaps the best known and fortunately less maligned is meditation. This does not make meditating the easiest way. People tend to be and stay busy. Meditation is about seeking peace within yourself and moments of silence that are difficult for so many people form the basis of meditation. However, in addition to seeking out and living through the moment of silence, you also learn to visualize through meditation. Presenting images to yourself in your mind to help you, for example, find a place for something from your past. During a moment of meditation, you relive, as it were, what you may have previously put away. For example, quite a few people have a backpack full, which can be slowly emptied through meditation. You do have to visualize for this type of meditation and that requires some creativity.Visualizing during a meditation moment can also give you answers to things that you know deep inside, but that your outside is not yet ready to embrace. However, if you are open to it, it can give you guidance in making a decision.

From analysis to intuition

We like to use our left hemisphere of the brain, it is what our society is based on and you learn it at school. Actually, we don’t know any better when we leave school. But slowly one person develops intuition and the other remains stuck in the rational. Although the rational should absolutely not be pushed aside, your intuitive life can only enrich your decisions. But because we are not used to it, we find it scary. As mentioned, Western society is not based on it, but fortunately we are slowly but surely allowing intuition, feeling and imagination. Little by little, but still. These processes require imagination and that is creativity. Getting close to yourself and putting your feelings into words and/or images requires a lot from people who think they are not very creative. Moreover, it can be experienced as scary. But your body won’t fool you, learning to trust it takes time and energy.By working on yourself in this way, you learn a lot more about yourself. In addition to concentration, it also requires quite a bit of creativity. Especially if you are not used to looking at things this way, you may not really know what is happening to you. By focusing on yourself and translating the feeling (for example the well-known gut feeling) into what you have at hand, you have to be creative. Everyone has this to a greater or lesser extent. In addition to getting to know yourself, you no longer make your decisions solely based on what your reason tells you.For example, take a decision that you have to make and is rationally good, but your gut feeling says otherwise. You will then have to delve into yourself where this gut feeling comes from. There are not always immediate answers, but the feeling does come from somewhere. So you may also make a decision against your rationale.

Reach the goal

Western society is very goal-oriented. We have to work towards something ourselves, or prompted by our parents. Getting your diploma, making a career, starting a family, etc. But what we ignore and what limits our natural creativity is enjoying the moment. We are conditioned from an early age because if we don’t get the right results, our parents don’t like it. You don’t want to get hit on the head again, so most children just make sure that those results are achieved. We learn to work towards something and there is nothing wrong with that. Besides the fact that we have forgotten to enjoy the moment of creating, being, feeling. The moment you allow yourself to enjoy the moment, you enrich your life and combine the now with the future.

Make a start

For some, the above may be a bridge too far, but for others it can be an eye-opener. It is scary for many people who learn to look at things in this way or what a decision needs to be made about. But lifelong learning is not always easy.Yet many people are already starting to write, blog and/or take creative photos. We give our opinion, we often express our feelings in words and images and that is also a form of creativity . If you do make an attempt to convert the feeling into words or images, you can also make a careful start for yourself. A notebook in which you record words or pictures that reflect your feelings is a start and don’t forget to enjoy the (learning) moment.
