What causes a bad hair day and what do you do about it?

Research has shown that there is a link between unruly hair and having a bad day. This study also showed that people who thought their hair was too greasy, too dry or too frizzy were the ones with less self-confidence. Is the remedy to get your hair back into shape to gain more self-confidence? Maybe, but some tips can certainly help you on your way.

Attention to your hair

A bad hair day is a sign that you haven’t been giving your hair and yourself the attention you needed. You can’t actually prevent a bad hair day, but you can certainly do something about it. With a little positive attention for yourself and the tips below, a bad hair day only needs to last a few minutes.

Types of hair and their therapy

Limp and lifeless hair

If you suffer from limp and lifeless hair, this is due to hair roots that quickly become greasy. Therefore, wash your hair more often and use a shampoo that adds more volume to your hair. You can also use a dry shampoo instead of an (extra) hair wash.

Unruly and frizzy hair

To reduce unruly and frizzy hair, dampen your hair before combing. Then use a dry hair oil for the frizzy and frizzy parts of your hair. First rub the oil warm between your hands and then apply the oil to your hair.

Oily or dry hair

Do you have too oily hair? Then use a shampoo with citrus ingredients. These ensure that your hair becomes greasy less quickly. There are also special shampoos for people whose hair is too dry. Also give your hair a hair mask or a cream rinse that allows it to work in your hair just a little longer.

Hair (re)styling

If you still cannot control your hair with special hair products, the next solution is (re)styling your hair.

Ponytail or braid

If you have medium or long hair, you can solve things with a ponytail or a braid. Use a gloss polish to give your ponytail a sleek look, or leave one or two strands of hair hanging loose near your forehead for a more casual look.

Role

Unwashed hair stays in place better when putting it up than freshly washed hair. Gather your hair into a ponytail and twist it into a roll in an upward direction, with your tail pointing up. Secure the sides with a few bobby pins or a hair clip.

Knot

Start with a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Now twist your hair into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. If necessary, use hairspray to make it look a bit firmer.

And if that doesn’t work

You can of course also simply distract from your hair by using extra striking make-up or nice accessories/jewelry on your clothing. Putting on a nice scent also works wonders and immediately gives you a feel-good moment. According to the research, this should have a positive effect on your self-confidence and therefore also your hair.
