Sterilize baby bottles with steam: Avent sterilizer

When your baby is still small, his immune system is not yet fully developed. In the first months it is recommended to sterilize the bottles and any flask. In the past, this action often resulted in fiddling with boiling water. Now you can sterilize your bottles and flask in the microwave in no time, for example with the Philips Avent SCF271/20 microwave sterilizer.

Remark

Since technological developments are constantly changing, you must always follow the (safety) instructions of the supplied documentation!

Ease of use of the Avent sterilizer

If your child is breast or bottle fed, this device is a solution. If you pump, you can sterilize your pump quickly and hygienically. No hassle with pans and boiling. Fill the microwave steam sterilizer with a little water. Put it in the microwave and the bottles and flask are sterile!

Sterilize up to six bottles in no time with steam

If you already use the Avent system, you can sterilize the bottles for a complete day. Although this device is extremely compact, you can sterilize six Avent bottles at the same time. All you need is water and a working microwave!

Sterile for up to 24 hours!

If you have sterilized the baby bottles, the contents of the vent sterilizer will remain sterile for up to twenty-four hours. There is a special closure on the device. If you leave it closed, the contents will remain sterile for a full day. The bottles and pump must be sterilized so that your child does not suffer from harmful bacteria that can occur in the bottle or in the milk produced. The principle of steam sterilization is similar to the method also used in hospitals. So this is without chemicals, but with safe steam!

Handy for traveling or at sleepovers

If you are visiting other people, you can still sterile your children’s bottles without taking up the entire kitchen. All you have to do is fill the sterilizer with water and turn on the microwave. The sterilization device is also particularly suitable for sterilizing your Avent flask. Most households nowadays own a microwave. Even many holiday homes are equipped with a microwave as standard. The SCF271/20 fits in the majority of microwave ovens. The sterilizer has a transparent lid. Then you can see what happens. The dimensions of this handy tool are: 16.6 centimeters high, 28 centimeters wide and 28 centimeters long. The sterilizer is round, so it fits easily in a microwave.

Further specifications

When empty, the Philips Avent Microwave Steam Sterilizer SCF271/20 weighs approximately 750 grams. So this is less than one kilogram. The sterilizer is supplied with tongs.

Instructions

You fill the sterilizer with a small amount of water. Think of the contents of a small lemonade glass. The water reservoir can hold around 200 milliliters (one-fifth of a liter) of water. Then place the bottles and flask in the device and close the lid. Depending on the power of your microwave, sterilization takes between two and six minutes. If the power of your microwave is between 1100 and 1850 watts, it will take 2 minutes to sterilize the bottles. If your microwave has a lower power, for example between 500 and 850 watts, it will take about 6 minutes. The water must evaporate and turn into steam to do its sterilizing work. Lower power microwaves simply take longer to evaporate the water.
