Beauty: Care of the skin around the eyes

One thinks it’s nonsense and the other swears by it. The fact is that the skin around the eyes is extra sensitive and it can’t hurt to be a little more careful with it than with the rest of your skin.

Skin

All skin is subject to aging and decay generally begins from the age of 25. There are two aspects that play a role in the degree of aging and that is, on the one hand, your genetic material. What have you been given when it comes to suppleness, structure, etc. In addition, care plays a major role and you have no influence on your genetic material, but you do have influence on your skin care.

Care

The skin always concerns 3 aspects and that is:

  • Cleaning
  • To protect
  • To feed

Every skin is different, but can roughly be classified as dry, oily, normal or combination skin. Make sure you always take the right products for your facial skin and apply them daily. You don’t need more than a few minutes every morning and every evening. The better cosmetics stores can provide you with advice when it comes to your skin. As you get older, it doesn’t hurt to have your skin looked at again. Your skin can/will change over the years and you may need different products.

Addressing the eyes: cleansing

The eyes are treated just a little more delicately than the rest of the facial skin. This has to do with the fact that the skin around the eyes is very thin and contains hardly any sebaceous glands. This also means that removing mascara, eyeliner and/or eye shadow must be done carefully with a product specially made for the eye. Put some on a cotton pad and very gently rub the eyes. Do not scrub if it does not come off immediately, but wipe a cotton pad with eye make-up remover over the eyes again.

Addressing the eyes: protecting and/or nourishing

Once the eyes are clean, you can proceed to feeding. This also applies to what is relevant to the eyes. The night-time nutrition should restore the skin and more than the amount of a pea per eye is not necessary. Thin skin cannot handle large amounts of cream and the risk of irritation is high. More cream certainly does not equal more nutrition. Gently tap the cream into the skin with your middle finger (using the slightest force). There are different products and depending on your needs you choose the right eye cream.

  • For example, there is eye cream that specifically addresses lines/crow’s feet.
  • There is an eye cream for the overhanging eyelids that, as it were, tightens/tightens the skin.
  • The blue haze under the eyes is caused by the thin skin through which veins are visible. An eye cream that camouflages somewhat can help with this.
  • With extra dry skin, the skin around the eyes can develop dry lines. A moisture-retaining eye cream may help.
  • The bags under the eyes can be tackled with an eye cream that drains moisture. Caffeine is such a diuretic.

Finally

Provided that there are no miracle cures, most products are tailored in such a way that they do something for your skin and, when used properly, are of added value for maintaining beautiful, radiant eyes. With everything related to aging, anything on the face has the most impact on people. The eyes play a leading role when it comes to dissatisfaction with aging skin. Treating your skin with care over the years is certainly not an unnecessary luxury.
