Ensure healthy tooth enamel

A general tip is to ensure healthy tooth enamel. It is important to brush only twice a day and for no longer than one and a half minutes. A toothbrush also brushes away the enamel! In combination with fluoride, which also dissolves the enamel, you quickly get yellow teeth. The enamel should protect you against yellow teeth.

1. Orange peel

In Thailand, people rub their teeth with the white side of the peel of an orange. It contains an acid that whitens your teeth. If teeth are yellow, you can rub them with orange peel every day, wait a few minutes and then rinse and brush your mouth and teeth. After a week you can reduce the frequency to 2 to 3 times a week. Too much is not good either. There is an acid in the peel that whitens your teeth, but just like over-the-counter whitening toothpastes, this acid can damage tooth enamel.

2. Cloves

Cloves are used to whiten teeth. You can of course chew on a dried clove flower, but that is too fresh for most people. It is also possible to put 2 to 3 drops of clove oil on your toothbrush and brush your teeth with it. Cloves have the added benefit of giving you fresh breath. Clove removes harmful oral bacteria.

3. Burnt bread

In Iran, women brush their teeth with burnt bread! Of course it’s a bad taste. They deliberately let the bread burn completely and crumble it into a coarse powder that they use to brush their teeth. This makes their teeth white.

4. Turmeric

A more tasty way to get white teeth is brushing with turmeric or turmeric powder. Indian students with beautiful white teeth often brush their teeth with turmeric in the West. Strangely enough, the powder is bright yellow. When you cut fresh turmeric, your fingers also turn bright yellow. But eating turmeric and brushing with it will not cause yellow teeth, but will actually give you sparkling white teeth.

5.Strawberry

Strawberries contain acids that whiten teeth. You can chew a strawberry in half and then rub your teeth with the white, inner part of the strawberry. The advantage of this method is that it also tastes good.

6. Apple

Eating a sour apple is an automatic whitener for your teeth. Yellow deposits become noticeably less as you chew the apple. The apple contains acids that whiten your teeth. It’s an excellent way to clean your teeth after lunch so you don’t have to brush.

7. Lemon and sodium bicarbonate

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is not used as a leavening agent in the Netherlands, but it is in Germany and England. Baking soda is also the main ingredient in toothpastes. When you put baking soda in a bowl and add lemon to it, you will see that it will fizz. You can apply this to your teeth with a toothbrush and let it sit for a minute. Not longer than a minute because then citric acid attacks the tooth enamel. Then brush your teeth again to get it off completely.

8. Salt

You can add salt to the mixture described above. Salt helps to disinfect the mouth. Plaque is caused by bacteria and salt reduces the number of bacteria in the mouth. For this purpose it is good to rinse with salt. Salt rinses also help with gum infections. Salt dissolves easily in lukewarm water.

9. Vinegar

As everyone knows, vinegar is quite acidic. If you rinse your mouth with vinegar for half a minute every 2 to 3 months, you will see that all the plaque disappears at once, making your teeth whiter. It is a liquid floss. But it can also damage your tooth enamel. Therefore, you should not use it daily, even weekly or monthly.

10. Dairy for a strong glaze

Strong tooth enamel helps enormously to keep your teeth white. All dairy, vegetables and fruit that contain minerals, calcium and phosphorus are good for tooth enamel. The enamel is damaged every day by brushing your teeth and repairs itself every day. Products with phosphorus and calcium ensure that the enamel recovers faster.

No calcium from dairy

Well-known examples of dairy products containing calcium and phosphorus are cheese, yoghurt and milk, but it is appropriate to note that too much calcium is not good. When too much calcium is consumed in relation to phosphorus, there is a calcium surplus, which results in the body withdrawing calcium from the bone to get rid of the surplus. Calcium and phosphorus are found in all green leafy vegetables. It is not wise to drink milk every day. In countries where people drink a lot of milk, such as the Netherlands, bone fractures are more common than in countries where people consume calcium from vegetables and drink little milk.
