Antioxidants in fruits

Fruit contains a lot of antioxidants, especially polyphenols, anthocyanins and natural vitamin C. These substances not only help prevent cancer, but they strengthen the immune system in general. Fruit is richer in antioxidants than most vegetables and contains many more antioxidants than dairy products and grain products. Therefore, you can say that fruits are much healthier than other foods. However, eating too much fruit is not healthy, variety is important.

Drink and eat fruit pure

It is best to eat fruit pure and not in pre-processed juice from a carton. Pre-packed and pre-peeled fruit is much less healthy. It is best to eat fruit immediately after peeling. Anthocyanins in dark fruits

Anthocyanins are polyphenol flavonoids that are mainly found in blue and black fruits. Examples include blue grapes, black currants, blueberries, blackberries, acai berries and elderberries. The healthy substances are usually located just under the peel. Anthocyanins have an anti-cancer effect, fight free radicals that can lead to all kinds of diseases, fight infections and prevent age-related diseases. People who regularly eat these very healthy fruits naturally look younger than others, although this varies from person to person.

Red fruit

Red fruit almost always contains beta-carotene and the phytonutrients zeaxanthin and cryptoxanthin. This fruit is extra good for vision and the defense against free radicals. Dried fruit

In addition to fresh fruit, it is also tasty to eat dried fruit. Dried fruit often tastes like a candy, but a candy that is rich in nutrients such as manganese, magnesium, iron, calcium, zinc and selenium. Dried fruit tastes very sweet and can therefore be used as a sweetener in cakes, mueslis, cookies and pies. Dried fruit is a nice snack fruit between nuts and cucumber slices. By nibbling healthily in the evening after your meal, you can take in nutrients in a tasty way.

Wash fruit

If you really want to wash fruit thoroughly to get all the chemicals off, you should wash it in salt water. You can make salt water by adding one or two tablespoons of salt to half a liter of water. Soak the fruits in it for a few minutes and then rinse them well with running cold water. Eat fruits especially when they are fresh. Even if you have bought organic fruits, you must wash them well because they may contain dirt, dust and deposits from air pollution.
