Prevent sweating under the armpits: deodorant with talc

Sweating under the armpits is always difficult. It smells unpleasant, it leaves sweat spots on your clothes and many people feel insecure about it. In addition, it is also just an unpleasant feeling when it feels wet under your arms. Something you can do to prevent this is to use a deodorant with talc in it. Not only does this mask the odor well, it also always feels dry under your armpits, which is very pleasant.

Dry impact deodorant

If there is a care product that you will find in many shapes, sizes, scents and compositions at the drugstore, it is deodorant. For years, the most important distinction was made by the application form: you could choose from a spray or a roller. You can also get deodorant with a variety of scents. Nowadays there is also a lot of development in the composition of the product and you can also buy deodorants that claim to have a dry impact (from Nivea), in other words that they do not feel moist when you spray them on. It is much more important that it does not feel damp under your armpits when you start to sweat due to exertion, stress or hot weather. Deodorants that work great in this area often contain talc or talcum in English.

Talc is a hydrated hydrogen-containing magnesium silicate and is used in deodorant to give you a dry feeling under your armpits even though you would normally sweat in that area. A combination of talc and porous silicon micro-spheres is often used to ensure that the product retains its effect for a long time. The first thing you notice when you use a deodorant with talc is that it is powdery when you spray it on. If you do not shake the spray well before use, the powder may visibly flutter down. You will immediately notice that it feels nice and dry and you do not have the feeling that you have sprayed on a liquid like with regular deodorant. It is often the case that the only effect of a deodorant is that the sweat does not smell unpleasant. It therefore masks the sweat odor that would normally arise. However, it does not eliminate the unpleasant feeling of sweat under the armpits and visible sweat spots can still appear that make many people feel insecure. However, when you use a deodorant with talc, another process occurs that will help you get rid of these complaints.

Shave armpits

A property of deodorant with talc is that it feels slightly ‘sticky’ under the armpits. This causes the hairs under your arms to stick together. It is therefore advisable to shave the armpits and at least keep the hairs under the armpits short, even for men. You will also notice that when you take a shower, the hairs stick together if you do not shave them away. The way it protects you against sweat, it also protects you against the water from the shower head. Therefore, always wash thoroughly with soap or shower gel under the arms. Many brands of care products have a deodorant in their line that is aimed at giving you a dry feeling under the armpits. Deodorants with talc include the following:

  • Gillette Deo Spray Talcum Dry Tech
  • Biotherm Homme Day Control Deodorant
  • Speed Stick Sport Talc Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
  • Ax Dry Apollo
  • Requal talc Deodorizing spray
  • Nivea for Men Dry Impact

Is talc carcinogenic?

Many products are claimed to be carcinogenic. Some people refuse to use products with propellants or opt for a product that contains only plant-based ingredients instead of a regular deodorant. However, no scientific evidence has ever been found to support the claim that talc is carcinogenic. It is also not necessarily worse than other deodorants that do not contain talc.
