Unsprayed fruit and vegetables, such as lettuce, leek, tomatoes, radishes, strawberries, raspberries, berries, cherries, apples and pears from your own garden, often taste much better than, for example, strawberries from the market or supermarket that come from regular horticulture. Organically grown fruit and vegetables also often have a better taste than products grown according to the applicable rules. The cause lies in the guidance and treatment of these products during cultivation. Organically grown does not always mean that nothing has been done to repel insects and make the crop more resilient. This is done, but in a more natural way than in regular cultivation.

Although more and more organic fruit and vegetables are also available in supermarkets, regular products from regular horticulture are still sold in large numbers. Many people pay attention to the flawless appearance of their fresh produce. An apple or pear with hard, brown spots is less likely to be sold in the supermarket, although this type of damage is usually caused by heavy rain or hail and has not otherwise damaged the fruit.

That’s just how it goes in the wild. According to the insects, there are no fences, property, commandments or prohibitions. What they find tasty and edible is simply theirs. Actually that’s not a problem. What is good for the insects is usually also good for the people.

Products from organic horticulture are usually protected in a natural way

Organic horticulture is becoming increasingly adept at biologically combating harmful insects, which minimizes damage to organic products. People often combat a harmful insect by using another insect that eliminates the harmful animal, but does not attack the fruit or vegetables.

For example, aphids can be combated with ladybugs. Production is progressing well and the prices, especially for seasonal products, are often no longer distinguishable from regular horticultural products. Prices are often slightly higher due to the costs of organic control methods, but not as much as in the beginning of organic cultivation.

Regular horticulture uses agricultural poison according to government rules

In regular horticulture, not only is spraying agricultural poison used, but also different types of fertilizers are used. Not only natural fertilizers, such as cow manure and liquid manure, but also artificial fertilizers. There are government rules for all products, but agriculture must adhere to them. After all, growers of fruit and vegetables benefit from their products growing as quickly as possible and becoming as large as possible.

Production and profit are important

The taste of the product is certainly taken into account, but the scale of production is a very important point because of the associated profit. In addition to (artificial) fertilizers, regular horticulture therefore also uses disease and fungicidal pesticides with which the products are sprayed.

Round up

In addition, the soil is often sprayed with Round-up before sowing or planting. It is a weed preventer that destroys all weeds and grass in the soil. The sprayed fields then look yellow due to the dying grass and weeds. The field is then plowed and cultivated. It was long thought that this product was harmless to the soil and crops, but certain studies have apparently been able to find residual substances in the crops that were later grown in those fields.

There is often no difference in vitamins and minerals

Vegetables and fruit from our own cultivation and from organic production have as many minerals and vitamins as products from regular horticulture. So that’s not the difference. Your body will therefore not lack building materials and vitamins if you buy and use products from regular horticulture.

Legal rules for spraying

There are also government rules for spraying fruit trees and fields. Permissible standards have been drawn up for everything. However, residues from manure and spraying always remain in the fruit and vegetables, no matter how small they may be. No matter how well fruit and vegetables are washed, there can always be residue left in the product. It is therefore very wise to wash all fruit and vegetables thoroughly before using them.

Residual substances often remain in the body

These residual substances do not always disappear from the body. Some accumulate over the years and can eventually have a harmful effect on your skin, your organs or elsewhere. Research into this is still ongoing, but there are still no clear results.

Difference in taste

Fruit that receives a lot of fertilizer will grow faster, contain more moisture and often taste waterier. This also applies to tomatoes, strawberries, and so on. It is therefore no wonder that the fruits and vegetables from your own garden usually taste better than those from the wholesaler. More and more consumers are looking for good fruit and vegetables, without residues from spraying and manure. Simply because it is better for everyone’s body. Particularly for children who are still growing, but also for the elderly and anyone else who has to work hard every day.

Healthy eating from unsprayed products

Unsprayed fruit and vegetables fit into a healthy diet. A small bump here and there is no problem. Fall apples used to be processed into apple sauce at home and the factory still does that now. After all, the less attractive apples from the farmer and the market garden also go to the apple processing factories or they are processed into syrup together with pears (and sugar beets). Only the beautiful apples are stored and brought to the consumer.

Process in a healthy way
