Painting nails and nail art

In the past, you had to have a lot at home to create some artistic nails, but nowadays anything is possible and there is plenty on the market to give your nails a nice look. Of course you can give your nails an even shade, but sometimes it is also nice to do something extra. Then consider crackle nail polish, magnetic nail polish, glitter, stamps, stickers or artificial nails. Wash your hands before applying nail polish. Your nail polish will last better and longer on grease-free nails. Always use a base coat before painting your nails. This prevents discoloration of your nails and also ensures that your nails are even.

Apply nail polish

The more often you paint your nails, the better it will go. It’s a matter of practice. Always start in the middle, a few millimeters away from your cuticle and stroke upwards in one motion. Also do this on both sides of the center. It is not necessary to paint all the way to the sides of your nail. If you leave a few millimeters free, your nails will appear optically longer. Always apply a top coat after coloring. For an extra pop effect, you can also apply a glitter nail polish in the same color as the base shade. You can do this on your entire nail, but it also gives a nice effect to only apply it on the top.

Crackle nail polish

You first apply a regular nail polish and let it dry thoroughly. After this, apply the Crackle Nail Polish thinly. After a few seconds you will see the first cracks appear in the nail polish, so that the color below becomes visible again. For the finishing touch, apply a top coat after the crackle nail polish. This way your nail polish will stay beautiful for longer.

Magnetic nail polish

Shake the nail polish well before use. You apply the magnetic nail polish nail by nail. Once you have painted a nail, hold the magnet as close as possible above the nail polish, without touching the nail polish. The magnetic particles in the nail polish react to the magnet and this creates a pattern on your nails.

Artificial nails

There are many artificial nails available with all kinds of patterns and images. Some contain a sticky edge and other sets contain a tube of glue to stick the nails on. If the nails have a sticky edge, it is useful to buy a tube of glue. The adhesive edge is almost never strong enough and the nails keep falling off. Before you start gluing, place the artificial nails in the correct order. It is most convenient to start with the little finger. Spread a little glue on the little finger and press the artificial nail gently. Hold for a few seconds. Repeat this until you have finished all the nails.Source: Angeljana, Pixabay

Nail stickers

There are nail stickers for sale with the craziest patterns and images. Don’t paint, stick. You choose the correct size nail from the sticker sheet and then stick it on the nail as neatly as possible. Carefully fold over the excess sticker. You will file this off later. Repeat this for all nails. There are also stickers for sale with just a pattern. Stick this over the nail polish that you think matches best. Then paint the nail with a transparent varnish.

Stamping

A slightly more difficult technique is stamping the image onto the base nail polish. You need a set for this, which is available in the store. The set consists of a stamp image, a scraper and an ink pad. You apply the nail polish to the stamp image. Remove the excess with the scraper and then first press the image onto the ink pad and then use the ink pad on your nail. Afterwards, clean everything with nail polish remover.
