History is generally understood to mean those aspects of the past that people remember and interpret in order to orient themselves about the character of temporal change and its effects on their own present and future.

History includes everything that happened before. The word is related to “happened,” as in “something has happened.” But this story is different than a story that someone tells to entertain others.
